Lene Oña Barés, senior associate in Lener's commercial department, analyzes in “El Economista” the text of the Preliminary Draft Bill regulating the corporate reporting framework on environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues, recently approved by the Council of Ministers, in the first round.
Through this new legislative framework, new features are introduced to Law 11/2018 of December 18, which already provided for certain reporting obligations on environmental, social, human rights and governance issues.
In this way, certain companies will have to submit information regarding the impact they generate on sustainability issues, on how these issues affect the evolution, results and situation of the company, and on the business model and strategy, objectives, among other issues. All this is a step forward in terms of corporate transparency and corporate social responsibility.
