How to adapt to the new European Artificial Intelligence Regulation

Ariadna Ruiz Forns and Alejandro Nicolás, lawyers of Lener's Compliance and Corporate Governance Department, analyze the new European regulation on Artificial Intelligence, from its scope of application to the levels of risk, the main obligations for AI suppliers, users, importers and distributors and the sanctions that the regulation provides for.
Lener's lawyers recommend five actions to companies so that they can successfully adapt to the requirements of the regulation:
- Identify and analyze what AI systems exist in the company.
- Design and implement an internal AI governance model in which the opportunity to appoint a Chief AI Compliance Officer is assessed.
- Establish a methodology for assessing the risk level of each AI system.
- Regulate the uses of AI in internal policies and in the company's disciplinary regime.
- Train and raise awareness in the organization, especially the company's management and those business areas affected by the use of AI.
