When the Madrid Bar Association (Ilustre Colegio de la Abogacía de Madrid) launched its Wellbeing Programme for Law Firms, we did not hesitate to join its inaugural edition and become one of the first firms to receive wellbeing certification. At Lener, the wellbeing of our people is a core value and a strategic pillar.
As a testament to this commitment, our Head of People, Cristina Peláez, participated this week as a speaker at the 1st Wellbeing in the Legal Profession Forum — a likewise pioneering initiative organised by the ICAM Foundation, established with the express purpose of moving from individual reflection to collective dialogue: sharing what works, acknowledging the barriers that still exist, and collectively building a more sustainable legal profession.
Cristina addressed a challenge faced by many law firms: the transition from a culture of heroism to a culture of sustainability — maintaining high standards without succumbing to chronic burnout. This is a shift that cannot be achieved through isolated policies alone, but rather through new leadership models, with the direct involvement of all areas of the firm, grounded in planning, delegation, and trust, so as to provide the necessary conditions to attract and retain talent.
For Lener, autonomy, flexibility, continuous learning, a more agile and less hierarchical working environment, and direct client contact become genuine levers for contributing to the wellbeing of our teams.
