Travellers’ registry: new extension and possible adjustment to the regulations following an array of complaints from the hotel and tourism sectors

In today’s El Derecho.com, our expert Enrique Requena, spearheading data protection and privacy matters at Lener, provides an analysis on an opinion forum on the regulatory changes to the travellers’ registry in force in the hotel and tourism sectors. The piece brings to the fore the recent extension announced by the Ministry of Internal Affairs which postpones, until 2 December 2024, the entry into force of the new registry obligations, initially earmarked for 1 October. This measure, enforced by technical issues regarding data transmission, has offered some respite to the sector, although the complaints lodged by the main stakeholders in these sectors remain unsolved.
