Lener has taken part in the opening acts for the Económetro 2024 report organised by the Asturias Professional College of Economists. Drafted in liaison with the University of Oviedo and sponsored by Lener and Caja Rural de Asturias building society, its aim is to offer a gauge of socio-economic trust on structural and current affairs matters affecting the economic situation in the region of Asturias.
In order to draft this sixth edition, the involvement and opinions of 301 economists have been compiled as to respond to the survey undertaken in the months of March and April of this year.
Amalio Miralles, partner at Lener, participant firm in the report’s presentation, highlighted that:” The ‘Económetro’ gives us an insight into the current personal and entrepreneurial state-of-play in our region; year in year out, the confidence economists in Asturias show grows although factors affecting competitiveness continue to be tax pressures, infrastructures and energy prices, while not overlooking salary costs”.
In turn, Abel Fernández, presiding dean of the Professional College of Asturias, explained that “while as an index it displays a pessimistic nature, we are approaching an age of burgeoning optimism or trust, both with regard to the evolution of private economies and that of Asturias as a whole”.
Insomuch as the perception surrounding the personal economic standing of those surveyed, alongside the general situation in Asturias, this year’s findings notably improve the expectations stated last year, shifting from a reliability rating of -12.99 in 2023 to -2.57 on a scale of -100 to100. These positive strides forward have brought with them certain recovery in terms of confidence, with the outlook closer to optimism for the future that far exceeds pre-pandemic figures.
With regard to the partial indices, optimism continues to enjoy an upsurge in household savings expectations for the coming year (+12.62 points). Also attaining a positive score, though displaying less confidence, is the valuation on the immediate future of household economic situations (1.66 points).
