The electric scooter company Muving, based in El Puerto de Santa Maria, stopped operating in Seville last June after four years of service. It was a pioneer in the Seville market with an offer of non-polluting rental vehicles and a great success in demand. They were able to make up to three fleet expansions during the first year.
However, the pandemic dealt a major blow to the firm due to the complete paralysis of activity during the months of lockdown and the health restrictions that prevented mobility, which has had a major impact on the number of users and turnover.
Muving's yellow scooters have also coexisted with tough competition from other firms in the sector. After Seville, this company founded in 2017 decided to also abandon Cordoba, as well as other cities such as Zaragoza and Valencia, where demand has not met expectations either.
Finally, the Cadiz-based company, which was created in 2017 by Rafael and Iván Contreras, co-founders of Humanox and formerly of Carbures, has filed for voluntary insolvency proceedings, with a debt close to €6 million, to try to find a solution to its insolvency situation.
The Commercial Court number 2 of Cadiz has appointed Lener Administraciones Concursales, which in the South area is managed by Marta Morales, as insolvency administrator of the company Sharing Muving, owner of the brand of yellow electric scooters Muving.
Muving arrived in the main Andalusian capitals when it started four years ago with the intention of revolutionizing urban transport. According to sources consulted, it became the leading Spanish 'motosharing' startup and the first to also launch in the North American market. However, various circumstances have led their departure from the country's main cities.
The Court has maintained the capacities of Iván Contreras as administrator of the company, who must rely on Lener as insolvency administrator to seek an agreement with the creditors, among which are the Muving employees.
The continuity of the company, according to informed sources, depends on finding a partner interested in purchasing the production unit or, failing that, the company will have to be liquidated with the deterioration that assets suffer in this type of situation.
