Corporate Equality Badge

With a view to acknowledging and boosting the endeavours of companies committed to upholding equality, Organic Law, passed on 22 March, aimed at the effective equality of women and men, envisages the creation of a corporate badge for equality issues granted to those firms who proudly stand at the fore in their application of equality policies for women and men.

Through Order IGD/954/2024, dated 5 September, the regulations for these “Equality in the Company” badges to be granted for the year 2024 have been passed. The closing date for applications is on the 14th of October. 

 

Who is this aimed at?  


Bodies or companies, from a public or private sector background who engage in professional activities in Spain.

 

 

What requirements must be met?

 

 

A series of requirements has been set forth:

  • Inscription in the corresponding Social Security regime and/or, in the applicable public registry.
  • Being up to date with taxation and Social Security payments.
  • Not having been convicted of final judgment relating to serious or very serious infringements, in the three years prior to the 14th of October:
    • On matters of equality and non-discrimination.
    • On matters of equality and non-discrimination regarding access to goods and services.
    • On matters of equal opportunities, non-discrimination and universal accessibility for persons with mental or physical impairments.

  • Submission of a statement backing the candidacy, signed by the majority of the legal representation for the workers, or failing this, the bulk of the workforce.
  • Having put in place a specific procedure for the prevention of sexual harassment and gender-based persecution.
  • Having created a compensation allocation register.

 

If your company is duty bound to draft and implant an Equality plan, further to the above

 

Maintaining the Equality Plan in force and recorded

+

Monitoring report on this Equality Plan over a minimum term of two years

+

Female presence amounting to 30% of the Board of Directors in Companies that are not required to draw up consolidated profit and loss accounts

 

If your company is NOT duty bound to draft and implant an Equality plan, further to the above

Having implemented equality measures recorded in the Registry of Collective Conventions (REGCOM) or, failing this, having drafted a voluntary equality plan

Having implanted equality measures over a minimum term of two years.
